You have to recompile the postgresql extension for php (cd /usr/ports/databases/php5-pgsql && make clean && make reinstall) Also, postgresql's internal files are not backward-compatible, so if you are updating from 8.0.x to 8.1.x, you should do a dump of all your databases with your old version of postgresql (8.0.x) and import with the new one (8.1.x) (sorry if you already did this, just wanted to make sure, but can you connect to the database using other method than php ? (psql for example ?) ) I am have the same configuration for php and postgresql and it works fine here.
