./configure selects gawk over awk if present (very nice) but buildconf does not, it uses awk over gawk, but on solaris awk has serious line-length limits which prevent buildconf from working. Is there any reason not to try and use gawk first for buildconf? Has anybody replaced solaris awk with gawk - any reason why I should not do the same?
