Hi!
I think that is not possible to read post data as a buffer with php like
it´s in perl. If this is true, how do you deal with large file uploads
to know the status of the operation at any time?

For a lower-level interface you could try the bundled GD extension
and draw lines, point, fill them all, etc. ;)
