My host recently upgraded PHP. I had a script, download.php, that would work like this
http://www.myhost.com/download.php/30/file.torrent the download.php script would take the 30, look up the real filename in the database, and readfile() it back. this was a great setup because the browser just thought it was accessing a direct link to a file.
