Solved. As suggested, the tech guy at EFS was on paint. The first 
transaction should be an AUTH, and the second transaction should be 
PRIOR_AUTH_CAPTURE, not just CAPTURE.

Thanks everyone for confirming there was no way what the guy said could 
be true...  :)
