can someone tell me how i can get my php script (which is run via a console,
rather than a browser) to read the settings i've included in php.ini.
is this possible?

hi folks,
I'm running a php script from a console - it includes quite a lot of heavy
database queries - and takes a while to run. Problem is that the the script
keeps on timing out and I get
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded ...
I've set the MAX EXECUTION time in php.

Is there a function that extracts numbers from a string?
I can do this with ereg but it's quite slow when you have a long list of
variables to get through...
