We recently went into lengthy discussion about this. No there is no a way to call a Javascript function from PHP. But you CAN send a Javascript the input it needs to decide which function to use. You can either have the PHP script generate the Javascript dynamically. Or if you need to run a remote PHP script then you can have it send back to the Javascript input through the URL string (GET method).
