You can also change the apache config to use php for .html pages. example in apache 2.0.x: ... normal stuff like documentroot, servername, .. There isn't any .htaccess file in the directory - I added one with the line you specified, and my directory comes up with a 'server misconfiguration error'. What extension are your files? Your web server is probably not set up to handle your files as PHP files.
