The manual at http://www.zend.com/manual/function.strerror.php says it existed for 4.0.2-4.0.6 only, and includes this notice: "WARNING: This function is EXPERIMENTAL. The behaviour of this function, the name of this function, and anything else documented about this function may change in a future release of PHP without notice. Be warned and use this function at your own risk." It looks as if the function has, in fact, been renamed to socket_strerror() for versions of PHP >= 4.1.0, although the same warning apparently applies. --- Mark Roedel | "You know, Hobbes, some days even Systems Programmer | my lucky rocketship underpants LeTourneau University | don't help."
