Hi There,
Can we able to call PHP script from ASP using AJAX?
Thanks,

AJAX is just Javascript making a call to a remote web service, so it
doesn't really matter what that web service is written in.

I don't recommand this article at Oracle at all!!
It's a very biased one and intends to misguide as a marketting gig. I'd like
you to read healthy articles that truely compare. BTW
ASP.nethttp://ASP.netcan not be compared with PHP5 because they are
totaly different.

I did not say that you compared! Sorry if I put it that way. I said the
article at Oracle does that.
In all the cases that article does not fairly illustrate anything. It's a
merketing trick for novices!

The only thing PHP can do that's related to asp, is use the % like asp
does. This is not recommended though..

There is one minor difference that caused a major change in structure of the
two scripting language.
PHP offers the isset() function but ASP don't. in a way there are the pros
and cons.
For PHP, you can create the whole site in one page, even though that would
not be advisable. Because of
not, and vice
versa. Right tool for the job, right tool for the job.

I'm not really sure what you mean in terms of ASP needing two or more pages?

With ASP the only cost is the OS.
Clint
ASP = Cost of hardware + Cost of OS + Cost of 3rdParty components.
PHP = Cost of hardware.

You can use ASP with Mysql, as long as you have myodbc installed on your

Hi
Something I dont think anyone's mentioned yet is that PHP is also great for
running stuff from the command line - e.g. for background scripts for a site
or mailing scripts or whatever...
In case that doesnt sound so useful, it measn you can use all the same
libraries for the online site
This is a PHP mailing list, I doubt you'll find anyone who knows, or wants to
know ASP. Why not use PHP for this, and dump ASP (along with the slow,
bug-ridden webserver it runs on [unless you're using Apache::ASP])?

You can use this code:

set fs = fso.GetFolder(Server.MapPath(/images))
for each file in fs.Files
Response.write file.name br
Response.write file.size

You'll have to use the FileSystemObject in order to get data from a text

I forgot to tell you... you don't need to install any component in your

Generally, you'd have to use a COM object written specifically to deal
with files. There are some ways to look at the raw data from an image and
file and extract that info, but it's frankly beyond me at this time of
night. :)
If you have control over the server the ASP code is on, you might
