[phpxmlrpc] Sending XML Strings

In the release notes for 2.0 RC 1, from end of 2005, it said that the send 
method would now be able to accept XML strings, but there is nothing 
documented about it.    How can i use the send() method to send an XML 
string rather than an instance of an xmprpcmsg class?
