line is recognized as linefeed (hex 0A), carriage return (hex 0D),
or the combination of both.
But sometimes, at least in other text processing languages (eg awk),
it's very convenient

Yes, this behavior is hard-coded into the 'line' function.
Did I miss something in the reference or is it not
