Bugbear also takes advantage of a well documented bug in Internet
Explorer,(a patch was released for this long ago) where it will execute an
attachment in an html mail message.  The virus infects an unpatched
computer when the message is read.

Be sure you have this patch:

or just point your internet explorer at

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com - and your computer should grab the
update.  But I bet this site is a little busy now.

Only affects windows computers.

Bugbear also disables most of the popular anti-virus programs.  If you
think you might have bugbear Sophos has released a free program that will
confirm whether or nor your system has bugbear
