There is no reason to ensure the developer soaks both sides of the film.
Just put the film in the tube without the screen. If you are wanting to be
dilligent, wash the film in a tray to remove the anti-halation dye from the
back first. Then use the tube. I did the same, but in the end find tray

Hi Ray,
I sure agree with you and your approach. I do think though that there
are no
of personal ethics. Many,
many great master photographers number the negative for their filing system
and never number the prints.

Using vinegar will simply give you a print, reminiscent of a salad
[dressing], but many of us simply wash with water instead of using any stop.
Ansel insisted stop bath solutions only lent the print to pinholes due to
the minute explosion effect of adding alkali to acid.
Use water.

The best developer, designed for push processing beyond 2 stops is the
Windich formulas or Pyrocetchen formulas found in Stephen G. Anchell's book,
The Darkroom Cookbook, or the Anchel, Troop book, The Film Developing
Cookbook; either or both can be hand via your library by interlibrary loan

Recip rule of thumb is 10% compound for every stop over one second; each
manufacturer will say when their reciproity comes into play, one second, one
and a half ... etc. So, add the extra time to penetrate the layers of film
equally, or compensate for that failure in reciprocity.

photograph look bad and a bad photograph look good.
The answer comes from the good photographer who can make the best picture.
The requirement is to make it easy for judges to adjudicate lots of material.
