For those of you interested in the fixer on the negative before development
info here is a letter (I finally found it). I received from Nancy
Renner:
To make the photographs, I put my negatives in a water bath for one
minute, pour out the water, then pour used but not exhausted fixer

As far as I know Sally Mann has been using the Collodion process using an 8 X
10 or larger view camera. Collodion negatives are a traditional photo process
(late 1860s) using glass plates coated with a sticky substance-collodion--
and just prior to exposure soaked in a silver nitrate solution.

Sally has a MERLIN pinhole camera but the pics you refer to are not made
with a pinhole camera

your link and it would not get me there I also typed in sally mann
separately to see a book / catalog in response to place but I did not come

The Motherland series has been shot with old lenses that have problems such
as scratches, diffractions, dust and are without coatings.. she uses litho
film to shoot with. I was also
