Re: [pinhole-discussion] Santa Barbara Cameras?

2001-02-14 Thread Tom Miller
Jeff,

Stick with Leonardo. I own two of them (6 and 1.5) and one Santa
Barbara (3). For the extra $10, its worth it, better construction
and ease of use. The SB's wooden dowels that slide against the film
holders are not attached. For fumblers like me, they fall in the snow
or mud too often. Beware of the SB's tripod mount, too. I poked a
hole through the bottom with a tripod that had a longer screw on it
than the SB allowed. It was easy to fix with a piece of black tape.
The SB does work well; but if I knew then...

Anyone had much experience using Santa Barbar pinhole cameras?
Care to post your opinion of them?

I have been a happy user of the 1.5 and 6 inch Leonardo 4x5
cameras. I was thinking of getting a camera of around 3 inches
 focal length...

Hi Guillermo + all pinholers !
for me , pinholing is linked neither to the weather, nor to the latitude so
that any day in any place for any of us will be ok for me !
Of course, February 29th would be very representative of the legendary
pinholer's patience and flexible apprehension of time...but...
until then, have nice time pinholing !
cheers from France

Leezy,
I think you've just started something... I'm in -:))

P.S. April 29 is great but has anybody considered an even fairer
distribution between the north and south hemispheres: the Equinox on March
20, Spring in the North and Fall in the South? Or what about April 1st,
April Fools Day, that sounds just about right for this mad crowd of
people...

Yes...with online exhibition, off line exhibition, swaps, etc. The only
parameter is that all the shooting must be done on THAT day.
 Whatdaya think?

I like the idea. I don't have the resources to print,
but would gladly make my pics available online. I think
we need to do this on a weekend, unless you want a view
of my office (come to think of it, that might be interesting..
maybe we could do a workplace theme sometime...)

Can we have a day for the pinholers from all over the world?

Good idea!

I'd suggest to pick a day when we all can go out and do lots of pinholing.
July would be perfect for those in the Northern hemisphere, but probably not
good for those in the Southern hemisphere, where July falls in the middle of
winter. April looks to me like a good compromise. I'd suggest to have it on
the last Sunday of April, starting this 04.29.2001
