Re: [pinhole-discussion] Santa Barbara Cameras?
- Original Message - From: Richard Heather rheat...@slonet.org I have both a Leonardo and SB. The SB can be adapted to use graphlex 6x9 backs that wont fit in the Leo. The SB shutter stopper can be cumbersome or fall off. The dowels are too thick to use with a 4x5 film holder and the back. I use the cardboard tubes from my wife's tampax. Unless accidents or self inflicted joy, a fresh supply every 28 days or so!! Sorry, couldn't resist. Guillermo

I put a graflock back on a 4x5 so I could use a 6x12 roll film and a 5x7 spring back on the 5x7. If you can work with wood or know some one who can it is great. Re: [pinhole-discussion] Santa Barbara Cameras?
Jeff, Stick with Leonardo. I own two of them (6 and 1.5) and one Santa Barbara (3). For the extra $10, its worth it, better construction and ease of use. The SB's wooden dowels that slide against the film holders are not attached. For fumblers like me, they fall in the snow or mud too often. Beware of the SB's tripod mount, too. I poked a hole through the bottom with a tripod that had a longer screw on it than the SB allowed. It was easy to fix with a piece of black tape. The SB does work well; but if I knew then...
