Bug#757521: cyrus-clients: fails to install due to failed rmdir

I did test the upgrade in chroot, but maybe some case was missed...

It looks like 2.4.17+caldav~beta10-1. Both these systems are running
sid, and they're updated almost every day.

  2014-08-07 02:10:50 upgrade cyrus-clients-2.4:amd64 2.4.17+caldav~beta10-1
2.4.17+caldav~beta10-3

It seems a bit weird to me that the postinst would try to remove a
directory that the package contains. Are you sure you didn't intend a
different value for DOCDIR in the postinst?

Bug#757305: cyrus-common: should not recommend mail servers

2014-08-06 Thread brian m. carlson
Package: cyrus-common
Version: 2.4.17+caldav~beta10-1
Severity: minor

cyrus-common Recommends cyrus-imapd | cyrus-pop3d | cyrus-murder |
cyrus-nntpd | cyrus-admin | cyrus-caldav. Policy §7.2 says:

The `Recommends' field should list packages that would be found
together with this one in all but unusual installations.

I've used the Cyrus clients for testing for several years on numerous
systems. I'm not at all interested in using Cyrus for mail. I suspect
I'm not in the minority here, and this dependency means that anyone with
the clients installed will automatically have cyrus-imapd installed
unless they explicitly deselect it. Considering many people use the
clients on a laptop or desktop, where an IMAP server is not wanted, this
dependency should probably be downgraded to a Suggests.

I particularly don't think having only the clients installed is an
unusual installation.

I'm trying to patch your package to support TLSv1.2, but your package
doesn't build cleanly twice in a row, which makes doing that a hassle.
The more work that's required, the less inclined I am to provide patches
against your package. Please fix this.

Attached is a patch for TLS 1.2 support. I tried to produce a git diff

up-to-date, so I had to resort to a diff against the source directories.

Bug#611674: cyrus-clients-2.4: smtptest falsely claims user is authenticated

2011-01-31 Thread brian m. carlson
Package: cyrus-clients-2.4
Version: 2.4.5-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/smtptest

If I use smtptest with the -a and -u options but without -m, it claims
that I am authenticated when I am not. It does not even try to issue an
AUTH command. I am certain that bk2...@example.com is not an authorized
user at the domain I've specified (since I administer that server).
imtest does not do this; it tries to use LOGIN and prompts for a
password, which I believe is similar to what smtptest did in earlier
versions (except I think it used PLAIN).

Bug#604412: cyrus-clients-2.2: pop3test doesn't handle CAPA rejection gracefully

2010-11-21 Thread brian m. carlson
Package: cyrus-clients-2.2
Version: 2.2.13-19
Severity: normal

Some POP3 servers simply don't support CAPA and complain with -ERR if
it's attempted. Other servers insist upon authentication first (how
that's supposed to happen if you don't know what authentication methods
are available, I don't know). pop3test doesn't handle this gracefully
and just gives up, even if -m user is passed on the command line.
pop3test should handle this gracefully and try USER/PASS or APOP
instead, or whatever method was specified with -m.

Bug#550228: New cyrus 2.[34]?

2010-11-21 Thread brian m. carlson
Is there any movement on a new Cyrus 2.3 or 2.4 package? This bug has
been open for over a year without a fix.

My preference is for a cyrus-clients newer than 2.2 (since that's all I
ever use of the suite), especially since that will get rid of the
dependencies on Heimdal. I don't have a huge amount of time right now,
but if there's something you need me to work on or test with
cyrus-clients, I'm happy to do that.
