Silly me: the browse source code link on the other side of the page had what
I wanted. What's
1) The directories /var/run/cyrus and /var/run/cyrus/socket were both present,
owner cyrus, group mail.
2) I did dpkg-reconfigure to allow package removal to take out the directories,
and then purged the packages. This led to a complaint can't remove
/var/run/cyrus, directory in use
The system is currently down for an office move; I'll be able to check next
week.
/run and /var/run certainly looked very similar.

I'm recovering email from an old system that was running lenny (Debian 5) with
cyrus imapd 2.2.13-14+lenny6. I have the disks, though attached to a host
running wheezy (Debian 7). I have a jessie (Debian 8) system on which I'd like
