Hi!

Since Debian doesn't remove the language extension from the binaries
(http://hub.qgis.org/issues/9924), couldn't the help/usage messages be
patched to have the correct binary names?

For example:

=====
$ gdal2tiles.py 436201.KAP
Usage: gdal2tiles.py [options] input_file(s) [output]

gdal2tiles.py: error: Please convert this file to RGB/RGBA and run gdal2tiles
on the result.

>From paletted file you can create RGBA file (temp.vrt) by:
gdal_translate -of vrt -expand rgba 436201.KAP temp.vrt
then run:
gdal2tiles temp.vrt
=====

I have called "gdal2tiles.py" (the binary provided by python-gdal) but
the message says to use "gdal2tiles" (without the .py extension).

I didn't take a look at the other messages to see if this also applies to them.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Nelson

I'm closing this issue because I don't think it's worth the effort.
