Bug#799007: bouncycastle: please package a newer version or upload 1.51-1 to unstable

2015-11-30 Thread Markus Koschany
I have been working on jakarta-jmeter and tika. Tika can be fixed by
upgrading to the latest upstream release which is 1.11~rc1.
Jakarta-jmeter needed a patch because even the latest upstream version
isn't ready for bouncycastle 1.51 or later yet.

My proposed patch for jakarta-jmeter is here:

https://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-java/trunk/jakarta-jmeter/debian/patches/08_bouncycastle-1.51.patch?revision=18921=markup

The tests still work with this one but I would appreciate another look
and feedback before I forward this patch upstream.

Tika:

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-java/tika.git

I am currently struggling with Tika because Maven complains about
missing artifacts. It has something to do with one of Emmanuel's patches

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-java/tika.git/tree/debian/patches/06-optional-parser-dependencies.patch

Although I have marked every new dependency for the parser module as
optional like before, Maven still requires those dependencies. I could
add all of them to maven.ignoreRules but this doesn't really look like
the preferred solution to me. I hope Emmanuel can shed some light on
this issue.

At the moment I'm trying to fix libitext-java and libitext5-java.

Markus

The patch looks good to me.

Optional dependencies are still required at compile time. They are just
optional at runtime, when tika-parsers is used by another Maven project
(which makes sense since the rdeps only use a small subset of the
parsers supported by Tika). If there are missing dependencies they have
to be added to maven.ignoreRules.

Ok, it's a bit strange because Maven complains about 23 missing
artifacts and some (most) of them should also be required by the current
Tika version but they are not listed in maven.ignoreRules... I'll see
what I can do tomorrow.

Bug#806768: c3p0: newer upstream version available (0.9.5.1)

2015-11-30 Thread tony mancill
Source: c3p0
Severity: wishlist

I'm filing a tracking bug so we can get an updated version of c3p0 into
the archive. Version 0.9.5.1 will require the packaging of a separate
JAR, mchanges-common-java, so an ITP for that is to follow.

Thanks,
tony

Regarding jdeb, I have been focusing on getting jdeb 1.4 packaged for
Debian. It's ready for bc 1.51, and just generally, it would be nice to
have a recent version of jdeb in Debian.

The one piece I'm still looking into is how to get around a build
failure with maven-plugin-plugin:3.3. jdeb 1.4 wants 3.4 for the
java-annotations plugin and fails with:

> [INFO] --- maven-plugin-plugin:3.3:descriptor (default-descriptor) @ jdeb ---

However, if this is holding things up, I'm confident that we could
fairly quickly patch up jdeb 1.0.2.

Cheers,
tony

Once we have maven-debian-helper 2.0 in unstable we should be able to
update all the Maven plugins to the latest versions and solve this kind
of issues fairly quickly I think.

Hi Christian,

Thank you for reporting this issue. I tried to reproduce it with
java-package/0.59 and the Oracle JDK 8u65 (jdk-8u65-linux-i586.tar.gz)
but it worked fine.

Is it possible that the .deb got corrupted due to a lack of free space
on your disk?

Package: java-package

Hi,

during the creation of java package provided by java-package software on
a pretty new Debian 8 box, I encountered the following error:

dpkg-buildpackage: source changed by Debian Java Maintainers

sh: 1: gcc: not found
dpkg-architecture: warning: couldn't determine gcc system type, falling
back to default (native compilation)

solved with 'apt-get install gcc' and

...
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: build-essential:native
...

solved with 'apt-get install build-essential'
What I'd like to suggest is to add those packages as dependencies
Attached you can find a patch - feel free to add at your convenience.

Thank you.
Fabrizio

Dear Maintainers,

I have a problem with make-jpkg. I've tracked the issue into function

diskusage() {
local path="$1"
read size dummy < <( du -sm "$path" )
echo "$size:$dummy" >&2
echo "$size"
}

which tests size of unpacked java distribution.

The issue is related to OpenVZ guest (and probably doesn't exists on bare hw)
 - `du` tests for disk size of a directory $path, but data have not been
written to the disk
at a time of the `du` (`du` returns very small number, nearly 0).

I haved temporarily fixed the problem with a sleep:

diskusage() {
local path="$1"
sleep 10 # < inserted sleep
read size dummy < <( du -sm "$path" )
echo "$size:$dummy" >&2
echo "$size"
}

but this is a bit dirty solution (it simply waits some time to finish
write-to-disk operation physically)
 by host container.

The Java archived I tried to pack into .deb was oracle java 8.

Hope this helps,

David Sauer
