preferably one that does file rotation. I can provide a patch for stdout
etc, and probably generate the start of a decent log4j file.

Can you not install the sun-java6-* packages? I'm pretty certain
java-package is now depreciated in favour of the packaged JREs.

expand {} in several places in the debian/rules file. The answer is to
