About fop... depending on avalon-framework :)
fop builds fine with Java 9, so no more action is needed for the
transition on this side.

avalon-framework is a very, very old (pre-2003) Java framework which
provides some code that nobody but fop is using anywhere, and fop isn't
using most of it.
