[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#699420: k3b: impossible Erase window: 'Found medium: Empty CD-RW medium' 'Waiting for Disk'

2013-07-19 Thread THR4K
Package: k3b
Version: 2.0.2-6
Followup-For: Bug #699420

Hello

Same issue here.

Some additionnal info about this bug: unable to blank new/empty CD-RW (not
tried with DVD-RW) as
k3b still on the 'Waiting for Disk...' dialogbox despite the medium is inserted
and well-detected.
Blanking a CD-RW which already contains data works without problem.

Please note that erasing new/empty CD-RW works well with wodim, using the
following command line:
wodim -v -eject blank=all dev=/dev/sr0

Maybe k3b considers useless to erase empty medium, but sometimes you just want
to blank completely
a medium that was used before and erased only with 'fast blanking'.

Best regards,
THR4K

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#699420: k3b: impossible Erase window: 'Found medium: Empty CD-RW medium' 'Waiting for Disk'

2013-01-31 Thread A. Costa
Package: k3b
Version: 2.0.2-6
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

With a used CDRW disk (apparently undamaged) in the drive, to be blanked,
K3B correctly reported:

Found medium: Empty CD-RW medium

In that same window K3B made an impossible request:

Please insert a rewritable CD medium into drive(...)

None of the three options offered: 'Load', 'Eject', or 'Cancel',
helped K3B do any erasing.

(See attached PNG.)

PS : Perhaps the CDRW medium was borked by another burner program.
Usually K3B blanks disks just fine. But a high level burner app should
never contradict itself -- bad media is no excuse!

PPS: later, 'xfburn' was able to blank the same CDRW medium.
