Ok, it looks like this is a known bug. When network-manager becomes disabled, there is no way to enable it using knetworkmanager! I used network-manager-gnome and got networking enabled. See KDE bug #232531 => https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=232531 How can I help to move this along? Without
