I, like many other, install texlive from tlmgr (for an up-to-date
version), but I'm still stuck with texlive installed through Debian
since Kile depends on it.
"Recommends" seems to fit Kiles relation to texlive better.
"texlive" package is recommended, while
"texlive-latex-base" is depended upon.
But just this basic set of packages is unlikely to be enough for most
users anyway.
