Thanks for the information.  I installed gnome and used the
network-manager-gnome
frontend to create the system connection I needed.

It is not a permission problem. System connection support is simply not yet
implemented in plasma-widget-networkmanagement.

The System Connection option is greyed out when editing a wired connection.

I am part of the netdev group.  Additionally, Running System Settings as root
and editing the system settings still has the System Connection option
unavailable.

policykit-1, polkit-kde-1, and consolekit are all installed.

It seems that this is a permission issue, but I'm not sure what I need to
change to grant myself permission.
