After attempting one of the fixes - removing the .Xauthority files - it still
would not work:
Attempt to start a meld session from konsole:
Password dialog box appears then it closes - this is left in
$ kdesudo meld

This file is claimed to be recreated automatically..
doing
$xauth
generate :0
creates a new one.
Then things work again..
This should not break so often..
