Deleting $HOME/.kde/share/config/digikamrc fixed it, as it asked me where my pictures directory is.
Now I know what happened: 1. I had my pictures directory set to $HOME/Pictures 2. I moved $HOME/Pictures to another subdir, $HOME/HDD/Pictures 3. Next time I started digikam it started crawling $HOME, using 170% CPU I think there is a bug here, if it can't find my Pictures dir it should ask me again where it is, not crawl crazily all over the place.
