You can ignore my previous email. I discovered that starting synaptiks from the command line added in the system tray icon. [Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#663264: I Have the Same Issue
I am experiencing the same problem. I have the latest version of python-kde4 installed (4:4.7.4-4). In my case there is no synaptics system tray icon, which was used as a workaround by others. Is there something obvious I am missing?
