Actually the maintainer is not inactive but lacks time and never received an
email notification from the bug tracking system. 

Anyway, to the problem, I'm more than willing to accept patches, but I cannot
see a way to make this easier for people who do not know enough about the Qt
database connectors to come up with the solution but at the same time don't
pester those who do with redundant information.
