Process HAZARD Analysis for
HAZOP Team Leaders

The focus of the course is to build up the skills level of the participants to
be able to organize a HAZOP session and lead the HAZOP session effectively.
To do this, the course will provide real world examples in HAZOPs and will
provide a venue where the participants will practice leading the class in a
HAZOP with feedback from the course instructor and other participants.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this PSM Course are to:
- Demonstrate the role of PSM in managing the risks of an oil and gas,
petrochemical, and manufacturing company which handle flammable or toxic
materials or operates processes under high temperatures or pressures
- Explain the key PHA techniques and their application for various types of
risk management objectives. The techniques will be covered include What-if,
Checklist, HAZID, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), HAZOP, basic Layers
of Protection Analysis.
- Train the participants in conducting the various PHA techniques and provide
an opportunity to lead a PHA in front of a live audience to appreciate the
common Team Leader challenges and how to overcome them.

- 28 years of engineering and consulting experience in process safety,
mechanical integrity, and energy and environmental engineering for the oil and
gas, chemical, electric power, and manufacturing industries.
- responsible for process safety studies for many major companies including BP,
Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Petronas, Pertamina, Petroleum Authority of Thailand,
Hindustan Petroleum, Salamander, Bumi Armada, Cabot, Valspar, PPG, General
Electric, and others.
- provided this course on Process Safety Management to several leading
petrochemical companies in China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore,
Pakistan, and India.
- currently leads HAZOPs, HAZIDs, PSSR, and auditing for projects throughout
the region.
