Are you aware of the latest messages in Krecipes' help forum?
 http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1906751forum_id=273665

 Are you involved with that?

I wasn't aware, thanks for noticing. Now I'm involved with that, I've written
the latest message as jmsantamaria.

Let me explain somethings to avoid confusions (as far as possible):

*Project admins for krecipes at sourceforge*
bossone - Cyril Bosselut (or Bosselut Cyril?), original author of krecipes.
jakin44 - Jason Kivlighn, original author of krecipes.
patch_linams - I have no idea who is.
ugarro - Unai Garro, original author of krecipes

*My sourceforge account*
jmsantamaria

*Current trunk repository*
svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/extragear/utils/krecipes
Note that there isn't the translations and docs here, only the application.

*KDE svn accounts*
mlaurent - He worked the initial porting stuff in the kde svn
sauve - Daniel Sauvé, as Laurent Montel he worked on the initial porting stuff.
joselema - It's me
And also there are other contributors.

*Krecipe's history*
Afaik, krecipes was unmaintained by it's original authors while the switch
from kde 3 to kde 4, so Laurent Montel and Daniel Sauvé have been porting
krecipes on their own on the kde svn, but the didn't commit anything the last
year, and a few weeks ago I sent this mail to kde-devel:
http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-develm=123697534829708w=2
I get no response from the krecipe's original authors, so I applied for an svn
account. And during this last weeks I've been porting the setup assistant, the
backup functions and some bugs. And as I said before, I don't have permissions
to release files yet. But I hope.

While I understand that you might not want to maintain a separate KDE3
version of Krecipes I would like to suggest that you integrate the two
patches in Debian and release this as Krecipes 1.0. Also, translation
updates would be nice. At least the German l10n is quite incomplete.

Yes, I don't want to maintain the kde 3 version, except for very serious bugs
like #478030

I will release if possible a new tar.gz although and I will release as
krecipes 1.0~beta2. Unfortunately I can't ensure something better than beta
quality now.

I will care about translations and documentation above the 2.x series, I need
to check their current state. In fact, I'm planning for 2.0 a *partial* port
to kde 4 which should be apropiate to translate and take new screenshots for
the user manual. And of course should be appropiate for end users and for
uploading it to debian.

Krecipes status

2009-04-16 Thread José Manuel Santamaría Lema
Hi,

I'm glad see in this bug that I'm not the only person who is interested on
krecipes:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=478030

Some weeks ago, both the program and the debian package was unmaintained, the
current maintainer seems to be MIA:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=513860

I'm working sice a few weeks in upstream to release a new krecipes version
ported to KDE 4 but it's not ready yet. Releasing the new version might take
weeks or months, so I suggest to upload krecipes to 1.0~beta1-2 as soon as
possible. I'm not supporting the kde 3 version, but it's useful for me to
install the kde 3 version in order to check possible missing features in the
trunk version. Also should be great to let users using the kde 3 version in
the meantime.

If you agree, Matthias, adopt krecipes now, and when we have krecipes 2.0
released we could co-maintain it.

By the way, I don't have where I will release the next version, since I don't
have permissions to upload .tar.gz's in the home page which is outdated
http://krecipes.sourceforge.net/
Let me take some days to solve this issue.

Another issue: I'm not sure if the postgresql backend works, it seems to be
programmed for postgresql 7.x, and afaik we have only the 8.x series in
unstable. But don't trust me very much, I'm not sure, I need to test and dig
in code to confirm it.

Any suggestions from DD's or other skilled people?
