To ease the usage of lustre on a non rhel or sles system. I know that the 
situation is not optimal, but sadly this won't change in the near future 
(caused by oracle). In the past (until lustre 1.6.X) also vanilla kernel were 
supported, but this was discontinued by sun/oracle.
