(Sorry for the delay - didn't spot your second message) Regarding the testsuite: IIRC it doesn't succeed on all archs, and that's beyond our control. In 2013 you asked the same question, you asked "Why disable the testsuite? After all, if it is failing, its for a reason" and my answer was the following: > That's what I thought too at first. I > was going to suggest using the available library, but it is orphaned. > Anyone up to take the maintainance of oscpack? One thing to note: it's only "supernova" that makes use of oscpack, and supernova is optional since it's a drop-in replacement for "scsynth". So, one cop-out alternative available to us (if oscpack isn't getting fixed) is that on some platforms we could disable building it (-DSUPERNOVA=0) and disable packaging it. >>> >>> We are already doing that[1], so that is a possible course of action. I've just pushed some changes to restrict supernova to its target archs. (Also finally worked out the lintian copyright-file complaint.) I would hope that this fixes the builds on many archs, in the sense of allowing the non-supernova builds to complete successfully. I don't have access to those archs, however, so I haven't tested. But you can always do it later). >In my case there's no tar.gz file in the repository afterwards and no >extra directory of my package. Also the debian directory shows up >in the upstream as well as in the master branch. git diff master > upstream >shows no diffs between master and upstream. The tags are available. The tarball should not be inside the repository. When you do the next upstream release, you normally run uscan from inside the repository, which downloads the tarball to ../ and renames it to *orig.tar.gz. Then import it with: gbp import-orig --pristine-tar /path/to/package_0.1-1.dsc Using --pristine-tar, because this allows someone else (e.g. me) to recreate the tarball from the git repository without having to download it manually. > 2. https://wiki.debian.org/DebianMultimedia/DevelopPackaging: >"The git repository should be hosted in alioth, under the pkg-multimedia >project. Don't worry - I have already done it :-) Once you have the import sorted out, and the SSH key up at Alioth, you can push the repository using: $ git remote add origin git+ssh://git.debian.org/git/pkg-multimedia/sayonara.git $ git push --all --set-upstream $ git push --tags >"Do not commit debian/changelog along with the changes. This practice > makes > cherry picking and backporting changes unnecessarily hard." > >How do users and especially testers know what has changed? Just do the changelog last. You can automate a lot of this using gbp dch (and editing out all the mistake commits that the users don't need to read :-) ) See: http://honk.sigxcpu.org/projects/git-buildpackage/manual-html/gbp.releases.html >"To indicate that the package is ready for upload, update > debian/changelog >to include the target distribution" >I thought I should not commit it? Some of the documentation out there is contradictory, as different Debian Teams have slightly different workflows. I normally do the changelog after I have finished a series of commits, and it is either ready for upload, or I don't plan to do any more work for a while. Someone else on the team can then pick it up and finish it if they have the urge (normally after checking with you first). > As you can see, I am a little bit confused right now. These files are under very strict licensing terms which can be found here (you have to download the SDK and open the PDF): http://www.steinberg.net/en/company/developers.html The term "Licensed Software Developer Kit" appears to cover all the code: 1.1 The object of this agreement consists of the Steinberg ASIO (Audio Stream I/O) Software Development Kit version 2.3, respectively any preview version of this Kit, comprising of documentation, example code, and several ASIO examples. These are described hereinafter as the "Licensed Software Developer Kit". The license goes on to include other terms which seem to prohibit modification or redistribution in most cases: 2.3 The Licensee has no permission to sell, license, give-away and/or distribute the Licensed Software Developer Kit or parts of it for the use as software developer kit in any way, for example, integrated in any framework application, on any medium, including the Internet, to any other person, including sub-licensors of the Licensee or companies where the Licensee has any involvement. This includes re-working this specification, or reverse-engineering any products based upon this specification. 2.4 In case the Licensed Software Developer Kit is modified, it shall not be published, sold or distributed without agreement of Steinberg. Furthermore, the naming of the Licensed Software Developer Kit shall not include “ASIO 2.3 SDK” or any combination containing the VST brand without permission of Steinberg. dear giada devs, while upgrading the Debian package for giada, I noticed that the test-suite contains some juce-tests even when configured without WITH_VST. since JUCE is only needed when WITH_VST is set (and the giada Debian package has the included juce dropped, the JUCE Debian package has the VST support dropped and as a consequence the giada Debian package does not use and JUCE at all), i disabled the JUCE tests when building without VST support. please find a patch (against 0.12.1) attached. gmards IOhannes From ad6924ec10e531054c5f92a56329acfc576ebb50 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: =?UTF-8?q?IOhannes=20m=20zm=C3=B6lnig?=Date: Tue, 17 May 2016 15:42:29 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] Only build/run JUCE tests when configured WITH_VST --- Makefile.am | 11 +-- 1 file changed, 9 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) diff --git a/Makefile.am b/Makefile.am index d2341f6..86bbe4f 100644 --- a/Makefile.am +++ b/Makefile.am @@ -229,7 +229,10 @@ src/core/pluginHost.cpp \ src/core/dataStorageIni.cpp \ src/core/dataStorageJson.cpp \ src/utils/utils.cpp \ -src/utils/log.cpp\ +src/utils/log.cpp + +if WITH_VST +giada_tests_SOURCES +=\ src/deps/juce/juce_audio_basics/juce_audio_basics.cpp \ src/deps/juce/juce_audio_processors/juce_audio_processors.cpp \ src/deps/juce/juce_core/juce_core.cpp \ @@ -238,6 +241,7 @@ src/deps/juce/juce_events/juce_events.cpp \ src/deps/juce/juce_graphics/juce_graphics.cpp \ src/deps/juce/juce_gui_basics/juce_gui_basics.cpp \ src/deps/juce/juce_gui_extra/juce_gui_extra.cpp +endif giada_tests_LDADD = -ljansson -lsndfile -lsamplerate -lfltk -lXext -lX11 -lXft \ -lXpm -lm -ljack -lasound -lpthread -ldl -lpulse-simple -lpulse -lrtmidi \ @@ -245,8 +249,11 @@ giada_tests_LDADD = -ljansson -lsndfile -lsamplerate -lfltk -lXext -lX11 -lXft \ giada_tests_CXXFLAGS = -std=c++11 -giada_tests_CPPFLAGS = -I./src/deps/juce -I./src/deps/vst -I/usr/include \ +giada_tests_CPPFLAGS = +if WITH_VST +giada_tests_CPPFLAGS += -I./src/deps/juce -I./src/deps/vst -I/usr/include \ -I/usr/include/freetype2 +endif # make rename -- -- 2.8.1 signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers
