Actually thats not true anymore. Since etch, bugfixes of severity important
and higher _are_ (or might be) accepted for stable updates, if the change
is non-intrusive.
New features are of course not accepted.

Bug#574875: Removed package(s) from unstable

2010-03-22 Thread Debian Archive Maintenance
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

  bitscope | 1.1-7 | source, alpha, amd64, armel, hppa, hurd-i386, i386,
ia64, kfreebsd-amd64, kfreebsd-i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

--- Reason ---
ROM; renamed to bitmeter
--

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive (ftp-master.debian.org) and will not propagate to any
mirrors (ftp.debian.org included) until the next cron.daily run at the
earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically
removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and
close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package
was superseded by another one.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to 574...@bugs.debian.org.

The full log for this bug can be viewed at http://bugs.debian.org/574875

This message was generated automatically; if you believe that there is
a problem with it please contact the archive administrators by mailing

I'm very glad to hear this and look forward to meeting in person. Sorry
for the slow reply.

I will be there working for the videoteam from the start of debcamp
through the end of cleanup. I've also been involved with the localteam
somewhat helping out with general organizing stuff.

I very much do think we _need_ to have a a multimedia packaging talk and
am interested in helping you to make it happen if there's any way I can

sessions or BoFs or discussions or somesuch as well.

 I will attend Debconf.

But I am quite busy this spring designing and administrate an cellphone
sms system for a small experimental theater group. So I won't have time
to prepare any talks, will just show up and enjoy the gathering with no
 preparations or special commitments :-)

Hopefully we'll at least have time to have an in-person meeting of
interested persons regarding this team's work and future efforts.

At the very least, it'll be good to meet and exchange pgp keys. :)

I will be happy to get involved at the conference itself - and also

So if relevant then I can participate in both meetings, BoF and
