Bug#622331: python-dmedia: Package uninstallable on Sid

2011-04-12 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Package: python-dmedia
Severity: grave
Tags: sid
Justification: renders package unusable

Package is uninstallable on Sid because of uninstallable dependencies.

I am the package maintainer and this bug has been filed to prevent migration to
Testing. I am working on a fix.

fatal error: audacious/util.h: No such file or directory

2011-04-12 Thread Mehdi Dogguy

Hi.

It seems that audacious 2.4.4-1 misses some files in audacious-dev.
Specifically, I don't see audacious/util.h and audacious/output.h,
although they are present in the source package.

Maybe this was intended, but it's causing some packages to FTBFS (see
list below). I didn't try to bring them back in the package to see
it's enough to let other packages build... but can you please tell me if
those are part of a deprecated API thrown away by upstream (and that's
why they are not installed), or simply because they were forgotten at
some point?

This change introduced this list of FTBFSes:

 http://bugs.debian.org/620915
 http://bugs.debian.org/620917
 http://bugs.debian.org/620918
 http://bugs.debian.org/620919

Those failures are preventing audacious and libmowgli from migrating to
testing.

I took a brief look and found the system user creation a bit
strange. If you created the user in postinst, you wouldn't need the
 pre-dependency on adduser.
Has no reason to finish package install if user can not be created(or not
already exist). That is why I put user creation in preinst. Also adduser dep
was added looking into other packages. Need I remove this dep ?

And moreover, since the default configuration
 doesn't start the daemon anyways,
Hm... By default after install, daemon must start. This works for me and some
another test platforms. So if it not start this is bug. In that way please
describe me a little you situation about this.

I'd rather skip the system user
creation completely and install the crtmpserver.lua config file in
 /usr/share/doc/crtmpserver/examples instead of /etc/crtmpserver along
with some instructions to the users how to start the daemon.

This will save you a lot of headaches and bugreports.

The file debian/source/local-options is missing, see the wiki for
 details
Fixed.

In debian/rules, where do the variables ${SVER} and ${DEBPATH} come from?
This was used by me, at time of build in my env. Of course this is
unacceptable for package at all. So I move ${SVER} to static string in rules,
and ${DEBPATH} to $(shell pwd).
Also I understand that $(shell pwd) is exactly wrong form, but right now I
do not see any way to provide value for CRMPSERVER_SOURCE_ROOT variable. If
you know how, please tell me(CRMPSERVER_SOURCE_ROOT must be pointed to package
source root).

Bug#622455: mpeg2dec: Getting rid of unneeded *.la / emptying dependency_libs

2011-04-12 Thread codehelp
Package: mpeg2dec
Version: 0.4.1-3
Severity: normal
User: codeh...@debian.org
Usertags: la-file-removal

To finish an old release goal from Squeeze, to comply with Policy
10.2 and to ease the introduction of MultiArch, I'm filing bugs
against packages which contain .la files which can be either removed
or stripped of the dependency_libs variable.

http://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/LAFileRemoval

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/04/msg00055.html

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/04/msg00199.html

Data has been obtained from the output of an automated script:

http://release.debian.org/~aba/la/current.txt

The output is best read in conjunction with the criteria from this
post to debian-devel:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00808.html

To generate the list of packages, I've used:

grep -v depended-on current.txt |cut -d: -f1

The data is regularly updated but please accept my apologies if you
have made an upload which changes the situation since the data was
parsed.

mpeg2dec appears in this list as a source package because one or more
of the binary packages (usually -dev packages) contain .la files.

In most cases, the .la file(s) can simply be removed as the process
behind this MBF has already identified that there are no further
dependencies using the .la file. In the unusual case that your
package uses libltdl directly, it is still necessary to empty the
dependency_libs part of all .la files remaining in the package. Once
mpeg2dec is fixed, the process will repeat and other packages which
you maintain may need to be fixed in turn. It is important that
packages are fixed in sequence to avoid FTBFS bugs.

If you believe that your package needs both the .la file and the
dependency_libs settings, please raise this on debian-devel for
clarification.
