Package: libdvbpsi
Severity: normal
User: codeh...@debian.org
Usertags: la-file-removal

To finish an old release goal from Squeeze, to comply with Policy
10.2 and to ease the introduction of MultiArch, I'm filing bugs
against packages which contain .la files which can be either removed
or stripped of the dependency_libs variable.

http://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/LAFileRemoval

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/04/msg00055.html

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2011/04/msg00199.html

Data has been obtained from the output of an automated script:

http://release.debian.org/~aba/la/current.txt

The output is best read in conjunction with the criteria from this
post to debian-devel:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00808.html

To generate the list of packages, I've used:

grep -v depended-on current.txt |cut -d: -f1

The data is regularly updated but please accept my apologies if you
have made an upload which changes the situation since the data was
parsed.

libdvbpsi appears in this list as a source package because one or
more of the binary packages (usually -dev packages) contain .la
files.

In most cases, the .la file(s) can simply be removed as the process
behind this MBF has already identified that there are no further
dependencies using the .la file. In the unusual case that your
package uses libltdl directly, it is still necessary to empty the
dependency_libs part of all .la files remaining in the package. Once
libdvbpsi is fixed, the process will repeat and other packages which
you maintain may need to be fixed in turn. It is important that
packages are fixed in sequence to avoid FTBFS bugs.

If you believe that your package needs both the .la file and the
dependency_libs settings, please raise this on debian-devel for
clarification.

Hi Torquil,

Why fixed? Which version does contain the fix?
I can't see any Expand all button in the Connection nor Patchbay
dialogs in qjackctl 0.3.7-4.

Hi!

My qjackctl is 0.3.7-4. I have an Expand All at the bottom of the Connections
window. Near the top (I think line 13) of the upstream changelog there is a message:

- Connections and Patchbay widgets have been finally given
up on an old feature request: an Expand All items button.

Some more info:

$ dpkg -s qjackctl

Package: qjackctl
Status: install ok installed

Description: User interface for controlling the JACK sound server
Qjackctl offers a user interface for controlling the JACK sound server
daemon. At the same time it figures as a JACK patch bay and monitoring
 tool.

Perhaps I installed a modified package some time ago and then forgot about it? I
has happened before... :-)

At the bottom of the Connection window I have the following buttons:

Connect, Disconnect, Disconnect All, Expand All, Refresh

The Patchbay also has an Expand All.

Best regards
Torquil Sørensen

Bug#598405: [rosegarden] Segfaults when opening notation editor

2011-05-10 Thread harry666t
Hi,

Running 1:11.02-1 right now and the notation editor doesn't crash the
application anymore. Generally Rosegarden seems to be quite stable,
however I haven't been using it that much recently.

Good. However, the relationship with thte old packages is wrong. It
should Replace the older packages. However, I'm not quite sure if we

What do others think?

  Added, welcome aboard!

Thanks for the warm reception, everybody!

BTW Rogério, I sent another patch to lame-dev. I believe that would be
the last change that I know of which should be pushed to lame's cvs.

Can you send me it here? I guess that I won't have problems with SF's
mailing lists eating attachments. :-)

All other changes for the Debian packages are Debian specific.

Depending on what we have, I would be glad to integrate them in a sane
manner that would make people keeping the tarball buildable on Debian-based
systems.

I'll hold off on packaging a cvs snapshot of lame and instead wait for
 a new release.

Robert is planning to move LAME to a beta phase and, then, of course, to a
releaseable version.

BTW, regarding LAME, since a good amount of the active developers prefer to
use CVS, while I like git (the little that I know of git), I maintain a very
outdated, half-broken, and unofficial mirror of LAME here:

https://github.com/rbrito/lame

I would like to start over the right way and, perhaps, it would be a good
idea to keep it under the pkg-multimedia-maintainers umbrella. What do you
guys think of that?
