Hi,

currently[1], libav 4:0.7.1-2/exp does not compile on hurd-i386.
The problem (fixed by the attached patch) is that _POSIX_C_SOURCE and
_XOPEN_SOURCE are missing from the CFLAGS, leaving some stuff
undefined/undeclared.

Bug#639362: ITP: newtonator -- The New Tonator synthesizer

2011-08-26 Thread Alessio Treglia
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Alessio Treglia ales...@debian.org

* Package name: newtonator
  Version : 0.5.1
  Upstream Author : Michael Bechard
* URL : http://newtonator.sourceforge.net
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : The New Tonator synthesizer

 The Newtonator is an LV2 soft synth that uses a unique algorithm
 based on simple ideas of velocity and acceleration to produce
 some unpredictable sounds.
 .
 It is not a typical soft synth, in that the main sound-making
 capabilities of it are not driven by oscillators (though oscillators
 do help modulate some parameters) or other typical synthy sound
 generators. Rather, the main sound source is from an algorithm based
 on the principals of acceleration and velocity.

Regards,

Hi.

I'm very worried about this new version (3.0.2 now) because it needs the
libmowgli = 0.9. But only the 0.7.1 is available on the project website
(maybe audacious developers use a git snapshot for developing and
compiling it).

So I added the libmowgli maintainers (Patrick Schoenfeld and William
Pitcock) in CC, maybe they will have more accurate information than I have.

Thanks.

Bug#639402: libva1: libva does not work with fglrx driver in repository

2011-08-26 Thread Guillermo Marcus
Package: libva1
Version: 0.32.0-1+sds2
Severity: important
Tags: lfs

When using the Catalyst 11.7 or 11.8 driver for AMD available in testing or
unstable, hardware video acceleration does not work. vainfo reports errors in
the driver, as:

$ vainfo
libva: libva version 0.32.0
Xlib: extension XFree86-DRI missing on display :0.0.
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so
xvba_video: XVBA_CreateContext(): status 11
libva error: /usr/lib/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so init failed
libva: va_openDriver() returns -1
vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit

however, when using the package from Splitted Desktop (and fixing the paths),
the output is:

$ vainfo
libva: libva version 0.32.0-sds2
Xlib: extension XFree86-DRI missing on display :0.0.
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/va/drivers/fglrx_drv_video.so
Segmentation fault

Also, when using the AMD Catalyst driver as installed by the AMD script, it
works fine.

This tells me two things: The libva, while the same version, does not seem to
include the same patches as the Splitted Desktop version, and the xvba-va-
driver packaged in xvba-va-driver is not the same generated by the AMD package.
If I remember correctlz, this was working before in Catalyst 11.6

In any case, support for AMD XvBA in VA API is broken, even when the pieces are
there. I could get it to work by:

1. Install the AMD driver directly
2. Download and compile the libraries from Splitted Desktop
