Bug#739127: ecasound: Please support building with Ruby 2.0

2014-02-15 Thread Christian Hofstaedtler
Source: ecasound
Version: 2.9.1-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

A new ruby-defaults, switching the default Ruby version to 2.0, will be
uploaded soon. (It is available in experimental for testing.)

During a test rebuild of rdepends with the new package, your package
failed to build.

If possible, please change your package in advance to support building
for Ruby 2.0, so when ruby-defaults is uploaded, only a binNMU is
needed.

Hopefully relevant log parts:
--
   dh_install -O--parallel
dh_install: ruby-ecasound missing files (usr/local/lib/site_ruby/*/*), aborting
make: *** [binary] Error 2
--

The full build log is available at:
http://aws-logs.debian.net/ftbfs-logs/ruby-defaults/failed-logs/ecasound_2.9.1-3_unstable.log.gz

Important changes from 1.9 to 2.0:
- location of ruby/config.h has changed; it's location is now available
  from:
  ruby -r rbconfig -e "print RbConfig::CONFIG['rubyarchhdrdir']"
- path for binary extensions has changed; it's location is now available
  from:
  ruby -r rbconfig -e "print RbConfig::CONFIG['vendorarchdir']"

Thank you,
Christian

Package: clam

In preparation for requesting removal of xerces-c2 from sid (and
jessie), I am asking maintainers of packages that still have build
dependencies on libxerces-c2-dev to instead build depend on
libxerces-c-dev. In most cases, no changes will be required. There are
only five packages left in the archive that still depend on
libxerces-c2-dev that have not already been requested for removal.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.8/g++-4.8, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.7/g++-4.7. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

  scons/libs/core/include/CLAM/xtime.hxx:38:3: error: expected identifier
before numeric constant

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs-20130217/gcc48/clam_1.4.0-5.1_unstable_gcc48.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.8, either set CC=gcc-4.8 CXX=g++-4.8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++ g++-4.7 g++-4.8 libc6-dev

The test rebuild was done with eglibc-2.17 and GCC-4.8, so some issues
might be caused by the updated glibc.

Bug#733071: NMU coming

2014-02-15 Thread Jay Berkenbilt
I'm going to upload an NMU to break the dependency on libxerces-c2-dev
so this doesn't prevent my removal request from going through. There
are two additional FTBFS problems that are also addressed by my NMU.
Since this package has not been uploaded for a while and is not in
testing, and since this upload fixes two RC bugs, I'm going to upload
the NMU immediately. The debdiff is attached. All the changes except
for the change to debian/control come from upstream svn.

Bug#739118: blender: FTBFS on s390x (and other non-official 64-bit architectures)

2014-02-15 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Package: blender
Version: 2.69-3
Severity: serious
Tags: upstream patch
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Since the default gcc has been upgraded to gcc-4.8, blender fails to
build on s390x, and on a few non-official architectures like ppc64 and
sparc64. This is due to a hardcoded list of architectures with 64-bit
pointers which has to be updated. The patch below fixes the issue:

On the other hand, it might be a good idea to actually detect the size
of a pointer instead of having an hardcoded list. The following code
can be used for that:

| #include
| #include
|
| #if (UINTPTR_MAX == UINT64_MAX)
| # define LG_SIZEOF_PTR 3
| #elif (UINTPTR_MAX == UINT32_MAX)

| #elif (UINT_MAX == UINT32_MAX)
| # define LG_SIZEOF_INT 2
| #else
| # error Can not determine size of a int
| #endif

Or it can probably also be done directly with cmake.

Bug#739079: transition: libav10

2014-02-15 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

Hi,

We have a new libav transition pending. Libav 10 is prepared in
debian/experimental, and I've started to build packges against this new
version; in fact, more or more packages require Libav 10 and the new
APIs it provides.

Unfortunately, this new release does break a number of packages in the
debian archive. At upstream, we are concerned about this and have
conducted a survey about the fallout here:
https://etherpad.mozilla.org/mnrZI5XlxP

Most projects have been fixed upstream already, some other are rather
easy to fix (e.g., simple renames such as CODEC_ID -> AV_CODEC_ID,
etc.). In order to help with porting, Libav provides a migration guide here:
https://wiki.libav.org/Migration/10

I sincerly do hope that this libav10 transition will not be as painful
as libav9, but we do have a number of undermaintained packages in the
archive that require upstream work. For those, I'd suggest to be a bit
more aggressive with removing them from testing for the sake of having
this transition done more quickly.

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi,

As discussed at

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mpg123/+bug/1072696

mpg123 and audacious fail to work together on arm with current
cpu setting of mpg123. Not providing float output could be
considered and abi difference.

The better solution would of course be to upstream to runtime cpu
detection.

But for the time being, it seems the best solution is to pass
--with-cpu=generic_fpu for generic codepath.

Changes:
 mpg123 (1.18.0-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release, Closes: #737243
 - libmpg123 version 39
 - Big version increase for clear distinction regarding the 1.14.x
regression
   fixes in libmpg123.
 - Regression fix: Ensure decoder reinitialization on combination of seek
and
resync (buffer overflow bug 201, introduced in 1.14.1).
 - Regression fix: Make parsing really end on reaching of junk limit
   (introduced in 1.14.4).
 - Add check for bad bit allocation value in layer I decoder (removes
audible
glitch in bug 201 test file).
 - Avoid wrong error message about Frankenstein streams when gapless
decoding
   disabled.
 - Be verbose about big header changes (Frankenstein streams). Note that
changes in samples per frame will confuse the seeking code, but decoding
   can get through.
 - Actually use the full routine to close tracks. Avoids socket leak when
playing multiple HTTP streams from a playlist (bug 203).
 - Send correct host header when connecting through HTTP proxy (bug 202,
figured out by Rajeev V. Pillai).
 - The console application now informs about changed major stream properties
   (prints out another header line).
 - mpg123-id3dump --no-scan; for speedup
 - hide -C parameter from mpg123 --help when it is not supported
 - added tinyalsa Output (by Jarno Lehtinen)
 - build system tweaking
 - some care for fixing Cygwin builds
   * Update symbol table to work with mips64/mips64el.
Thanks to YunQiang Su for the patch. (Closes: #729047)
   * Update symbol table to work with x32.
   * Bump Standards-Version.
 - Remove mp3-decoder from the Provides list.

2014-02-15 Thread Die Optimisten
Hi,

Very useful tool, but options not standard...
How do I extract (convert video) to CBR (constant BitRate) mp3 ?
Always getting VBR!

is there another (complete) helpfile with ALL options / usages?
-c:a -c opt -codec ... is not standard.
Should be --codec.
Also -o file would be standard (more than -i, which rather could be
omitted...)
=> Perhaps avconv2 ? with "standardized" options as usual?
( --filter-* , --filter-video-[FILTERNAME opts,]+
--filter-audio-[FILTERNAME opts,] )
( -f=FILTERNAME opts -fv=FILTERNAME1:opts, =FILTERNAME2:opts,...
-fa=FILTERNAME3:opts1,...,optsn]+
if more of same filter (e.g. -fa) then there are used for each file (map
is used within 1 file for different streams?)

WIuld it be good to have filters for reading/extracting input creating
file F1..Fn, stream F1S1..F1Sn and then
outputfilters mapping these to OutputFiles (O1..On streams T1..Tn) ?

PLEASE also CC email directly, i#m not subscribed to this list!

Thanks
Andrew
