Introduction and request to join the Multimedia Team: Víctor Cuadrado Juan (viccuad)

2015-10-28 Thread Víctor Cuadrado Juan
Hello,
My name is Víctor Cuadrado Juan, and I would like to become part of the
Debian Multimedia Team.

I'm a Spanish guy whose background is Computer Science Engineering, and
I'm interested in digital audio processing (apart from FOSS :). I have
used Ardour and audio plugins briefly a couple of times in the past, and
I (somewhat :) play drums and guitar.

I intend to maintain at least the drumgizmo package[1][2],
and help with other packages under the Multimedia Team umbrella when
it's under my possibilities.

I have already subscribed to pkg-multimedia-maintainers and
pkg-multimedia-commits mailing lists, and my alioth account is
"viccuad-guest".

Bug#803325: vlc: "failed to create video output" with video memory output; SIGSEGV with other video output

2015-10-28 Thread User User
Package: vlc
Version: 2.2.1-4+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Any video played causes VLC to crash.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Launching from file manager, ommand line, or media library any video file
crashes VLC on this up-to-date Debian testing system. I disabled VDPAU, window
decoration, accelerated video output - but there was no change.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Segmentation fault.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Video rendered.

After installing vlc-dbg, and runing
gdb --args vlc - /home/user/somefile.mp4
I got:
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/bin/vlc - /home/user/somefile.mp4

Package: vlc
Version: 2.2.1-4+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Any video played causes VLC to crash.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Launching from file manager, ommand line, or media library any video file
crashes VLC on this up-to-date Debian testing system. I disabled VDPAU, window
decoration, accelerated video output - but there was no change.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Segmentation fault.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Video rendered.

After installing vlc-dbg, and runing
gdb --args vlc - /home/user/somefile.mp4
I got:
(gdb) run
Starting program: /usr/bin/vlc - /home/user/somefile.mp4

Package: libmpg123-0 Version: 1.14.4-1
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

As built, the armhf version of libmpg123-0, v1.14.4-1, incorrectly
decodes mp3 files. The result is a high-pitched whine when played.
The mpg123 command also cannot play mp3s, and converting to .wav
produces incorrect output.

The latest version (1.22+), when built from sources, works fine. So
does 1.21.

This bug was found on a Beaglebone Black running Debian wheezy and a 3.8 kernel.

So let's mark it as fixed in the first 1.22.x version uploaded to the archive.
Does it work with 1.20.1-2 from jessie?

Cheers

Bug#803355: avconv cannot capture sync-ed webcam audio and video

2015-10-28 Thread Sylvain BERTRAND
Package: libav-tools
Version: 6:11.4-1~deb8u1

avconv -f video4linux2 -framerate 30 -video_size 640x480 -input_format mjpeg -i
/dev/video0 -f alsa -ac 1 -i hw:1 -c:v copy -c:a copy -y /tmp/video.mkv

A localy compiled ffmpeg 2.8.1 does this properly.

You could take the dsc from jessie [1] and build it on your wheezy machine.
Pulling this package directly from jessie will also pull in a newer libc6.

Cheers

Bug#803352: vlc: segfault when asked to play a 'Matroska data' .mkv file

2015-10-28 Thread Younes SERRAJ
Package: vlc
Version: 2.2.1-4+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?
vlc movie.mkv

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
I tried to watch the movie using mplayer to check if the content of the file is
ok.

* What was the outcome of this action?
It worked: no segfault / bad file format / whatever.

Here are some more information:

Bug#803239: libmpg123-0: armhf version corrupts mp3 decode

2015-10-28 Thread Rick Mann
Package: libmpg123-0 Version: 1.14.4-1
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

As built, the armhf version of libmpg123-0, v1.14.4-1, incorrectly
decodes mp3 files. The result is a high-pitched whine when played.
The mpg123 command also cannot play mp3s, and converting to .wav
produces incorrect output.

The latest version (1.22+), when built from sources, works fine. So
does 1.21.

This bug was found on a Beaglebone Black running Debian wheezy and a 3.8 kernel.
