Re: Is it time to remove dmedia?

2012-09-09 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Hi Luca,

Newer versions of dmedia depend on libraries which are not a part of
Debian (yet), so it makes sense to remove dmedia from the archive
right now, and then add it later on when the novacut stack is complete
(and the required libraries are in place). I chatted with upstream
too, and they didn't have any objections to a package removal.
So, feel free to go ahead and file a removal request. Do we need the
entire team's consent for that?

Bilal Akhtar.

dmedia still requires desktopcouch, so I wonder whether it could be
worth removing dmedia as well, as it seems unmaintained.
Could you please comment on that?

 Cheers,

Dmedia ready for upload to experimental

2011-05-15 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Hello All,

Dmedia 0.6.0~repack-1 is ready for an upload to Debian Experimental. Its
in the master branch on repository [1]. The reason why I'm getting it
uploaded to experimental is because its a major new upstream version,
and has many changes which would need better testing before they hit
unstable.

I've built the package in a clean chroot and tested it on Sid. All
individual packages work well. Its lintian clean as well.

dmedia ready for upload (RC bugfix)

2011-05-02 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Hello All,

DMedia 0.3.0~repack-1 is ready for upload to the Debian archive. The
package is lying in git [1] IN THE 'testing' BRANCH AND *NOT* in 'master'.

The package fixes an RC bug [2] which is about the package not being
installable on Sid systems.

I've also bumped up standards version and made some minor changes.

There is a newer upstream version available, but that is an experimental
upstream release and not suitable for Sid. I'm packaging that version
for Debian experimental in the master branch and it'll be ready within a
week.

Thank you for your interest. I request you to review and sponsor dmedia
as soon as possible.

Thanks again,

Bilal Akhtar.

 Hi.

It seems that audacious 2.4.4-1 misses some files in audacious-dev.
 Specifically, I don't see audacious/util.h and audacious/output.h,
although they are present in the source package.

Maybe this was intended, but it's causing some packages to FTBFS (see
list below). I didn't try to bring them back in the package to see
it's enough to let other packages build... but can you please tell me if
those are part of a deprecated API thrown away by upstream (and that's
why they are not installed), or simply because they were forgotten at
 some point?

This change introduced this list of FTBFSes:

http://bugs.debian.org/620915
http://bugs.debian.org/620917
http://bugs.debian.org/620918
http://bugs.debian.org/620919

Those failures are preventing audacious and libmowgli from migrating to
 testing.

 Regards,

Audacious and audacious-plugins ready for upload

2011-04-01 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Hello all,

The source packages audacious and audacious-plugins are ready for upload
to Debian *sid* (unstable) in the git repositories. I have test-built
both in a sid chroot and have also tested the built packages on Ubuntu
Natty. So I request someone to kindly sponsor the package.

A few things to note:

1) The package will enter Debian sid, not experimental (unlike the rest
of the 2.4.x packages).

2) The audacious package will have to be uploaded a day or two before
-plugins so that audacious-dev binary package (part of audacious source)
can be built and be published before audacious-plugins gets in as
-plugins depends on -dev.

Thanks!

Bilal Akhtar.

Hi Jürgen,

I am one of those who maintain the Audacious package.

I am working on getting Audacious 2.4.4 into Debian Unstable. Right now
the situation is like this:

Unstable: Audacious 2.3
Experimental: Audacious 2.4.3

Within 1 week, I'll get Audacious 2.4.4 into Debian Unstable hence
making the package in sync between both unstable and experimental.

Would you care to elaborate a bit. Not that I disagree, I simply lack
knowledge on differences between those Python packaging helpers.\

The biggest reason why I am using pysupport is because I am familiar

for now at least.

Requesting sponsorship for dmedia

2010-12-31 Thread Bilal Akhtar
Hello all!

I just packaged dmedia, which is a distributed media library for storing
media files for quick playing. I would like it to be included into
Debian and even though I would be maintaining it most of the time, the
package should be a part of the pkg-multimedia project.

The DSC file is at
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/d/dmedia/dmedia_0.2.0-1.dsc .

I am already subscribed to this mailing list and I have access to the
pkg-multimedia Git repos, hence once the package gets uploaded, I would
create a git repo myself, git-import-dch to it and add the Vcs-* fields
in the next upload.

This package is needed in Debian so that Novacut, an HD video editor,
can enter Debian. Novacut uses DMedia. http://www.novacut.com/

DMedia is licensed under AGPL-3 and its upstream homepage is
https://launchpad.net/dmedia.

I request someone to kindly review and upload this package.

Its lintian clean.

Thanks!

Bilal Akhtar.
