TBH, I don't believe that there is anything to do for this in the Debian package, but before closing this bugreport, I'd like to hear a word from you first. This is why I'm so confused that you are experiencing this problem in Debian, but claim the problem was fixed in Ubuntu. Can you please recheck that you are in fact trying to use Libav 10.2 and not 10.1, and clarify what's going on? Note that upstream was not 100% sure if that is the right fix, as we lack the hardware to test this properly. Doesn't ppc64el in Debian support altivec at all? Yes, it does in fact, but libav was to build with altivec enabled. Unfortunately I am still bootstrapping and I didn't go further on the problem. >> I am attaching a patch to disable altivec on ppc64el at the moment. >> Ubuntu is also using the same patch. > > It seems Ubuntu doesn't disable altivec at all: > https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libav/6:10.2-2/+build/6199083 > > In fact, it seems in ubuntu the package builds with altivec just fine: hmm, doesn't Ubuntu has the workaround you provided here? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libav/+bug/1263802 Thank you, Breno ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers
Bug#755540: libav: FTBFS on ppc64el architecture
Hi Breno, thank you for your patch regarding allowing libav to build on debian/ppc64el in Debian. It seems Ubuntu doesn't disable altivec at all: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libav/6:10.2-2/+build/6199083 In fact, it seems in ubuntu the package builds with altivec just fine: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/180375817/buildlog_ubuntu-utopic-ppc64el.libav_6%3A10.2-2_UPLOADING.txt.gz Why is that? regards, Reinhard ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Source: libav Version: 10.2-1 Severity: normal Tags: patch User: debian-powe...@lists.debian.org Usertags: ppc64el Dear Maintainer, Currently libav doesn't build on ppc64el because it uses altivec and it is still failing on ppc64el, causing the package to FTBFS.
