Ah, of course, I only did an anonymous checkout.

Easiest is probably to start over with a fresh debcheckout.

Tried that, now I get an other error:

this is because jamin is currently in pkg-multimedia, not in
collab-maint.

Perhaps this is an indication that jamin should be reassigned to the
Debian QA group and moved to collab-maint?

Huh?!? Why?

Ouch! Sorry - above clearly isn't the collab-maint area, so I have
wasted your time: I forgot that this team use its own Git area, so you
are unable to push your changes yourself. :-(

We'll push your NMU changes after they emerge as source package in the
archive. Thanks for the help, and (again) sorry for wasting your time
trying to be even more helpful.

Excellent!

You are however much encouraged to apply the change directly to our
git (debcheckout should work) - it is maintained in collab-maint so
you should have write access already.

Uhm... Sorry, I tried and failed. I haven't used git for packaging (or
anything else), yet. A debcheckout worked, and could apply and commit
my changes locally, however when I now try to "git push" my changes, I
get the following:

a...@nb-xp13822:/tmp/jamin$ git push

Your use of git looks fine.

You probably just need to use either -a or -u option to debcheckout.

Easiest is probably to start over with a fresh debcheckout.

Alternatively you can try edit the .git/config file directly, changing
the git:// line to an authorized git URL (either
git+ssh://git.debian.org/... or git.debian.org:/...). Just beware that
the git+ssh variant has no colon after hostname while the other does -
that difference has caused me many hours of frustration.

...or you can of course leae it be, and we'll inject your change using
git-import-dsc later :-)

See you soon in New York, I hope,

Sorry, this year I won't make it. To much work to do :(

Ah, well. See you some other time, then :-)
