Thanks for the explanation. I think this package makes most sense for our team if at least two members of our team can actually test and use those cards. This requires running a 2.6.34 kernel and using this firmware. Otherwise I'm not so sure. Well, I don't have the necessary hardware to test myself either. Shall I go ahead and place this under collab-maint and ask debien-mentors for a sponser? Huh?!? No - please do not try to get a package into Debian which you do not care about yourself, make sure yourself works properly, and intend yourself to maintain in the future to keep working properly. Sorry if I sound rough. I really really appreciate efforts - also contributions other than properly packaged and maintained packages. I just really want it perfectly clear what package maintainance is. I just really want it perfectly clear what package maintainance is. Kind regards, - Jonas I never said I didn't care about this package. I'm packaging this because it's a dependency for xbmc, and one of xbmc's upstream devs is also upstream dev for crystalhd. It's really only him that I know personally who can test this package properly, and I don't have reason not to believe crystalhd is thouroughly tested. I'm essentially packaging crystalhd for him. Not all devs know how to package software for Debian, and even fewer know how to do it right. And about my last email, it's just a suggestion anyway. I'm not sure what's best either, whether to team maintain it, even though it's possible nobody in the team has the necessary hardware to test this package. Like I said, I only have the word of one of my fellow devs for xbmc to go with (whether crystalhd is properly tested or not). -- Regards, Andres Mejia ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers
