I've given this another try - it reacts smoothly to connection aborts.
I guess there's still a problem if the remote server doesn't answer at
all and it's running into timeouts, but that's likely a problem with
many networking application. Given that pgadmin3 won't be seeing any
new upstream releases, I'm closing this Debian bug now.
