Hi,
sorry for the extra-long delay to answer this bug :)
Is this still relevant (in Sarge/oldstable or in Etch/stable)? Is the
package menu installed?

Compositing tab is now always present, allowing you to force the
compositing to be enabled. Does it satisfies you, and can I close this
bug?

To gtk-qt-engine maintainer: I forward this bug because I guess your
package creates the faulty file. Feel free to ask precisions about this.
If this bug still happens, it lies in gtk-qt-engine, which shouldn't
statically create a ~/.gtkrc-2.0. I have heard

I don't think the bug was really in Xfce, but anyway there's no real way
to determine this now. If you think the bug is over, can you close it?
(or let me do it if you don't know how to do this).
Thanks and regards,
