option was the easiest to try first for building libplplotdmd, but you are
willing to go along with SHARED.
Based on that information, I have now (revision 9989) made a user option for
plplotdmd_SHARED which default

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.1.3/libgphobos.a on Debian Lenny which had
not been compiled with -fPIC (so obviously could not be linked by a sha
