I am the maintainer of plplot for MacPorts.
Recently I updated plplot from 5.9.5 to 5.9.6 and found that the f95
binding does not build.
There are substantial changes from 5.9.5 to 5.9.6 including
unreferenced "external mapform".
As a workaround I had to comment out routines that includes

including x16d
with current plplot-5.15.0 +dmd variant.
I will wait for the update (increment of the version number)
to test with the MacPorts build system.
