Dear Pavel Sakov,

Your Natural Neighbours interpolation (nn) and Bivariate Cubic Spline
approximation (csa) libraries have been integrated into PLplot [1] and have
been distributed by Debian GNU/Linux [2] since 2003.

The free-software compatibility of these libraries has been recently
questioned [3] and, after a discussion in the debian-legal mailing list [4],
it seems that the licensing terms of nn and csa are indeed not compatible
with the Debian Free Software Guidelines [5].

We are left with two options: either we drop the libraries from Debian,
which will extremely penalize our users of PLplot, or the libraries are
relicenses under terms that are compatible with the LGPL [7].

Of course, we much prefer the second option. Do you think you could
manage to do it?
